Assistant Professor, F59770
Virginia Commonwealth University, Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, is recruiting for an Assistant faculty position. The candidate will work in Dr. Amstadter's research group, within the Virginia Institute for Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics. They will work across a number of funded and non-sponsored research studies on traumatic stress. The candidate will also be expected to develop his or her own independent line of federally funded research. A doctoral degree in clinical psychology or another license eligible field is needed. Experience working with regulatory agencies (e.g., NIH, IRBs) and Veterans is required, as is experience in psychiatric genetics. Grant writing experience is required, as is having a solid publication and presentation record. A successful history of grant funding is desired. Experience in conducting structured clinical diagnostic interviews focused on traumatic stress outcomes is necessary, as is experience in laboratory models of stress reactivity and learning/conditioning. The faculty member will also be conducting clinical interviews with traumatic stress survivors, and thus, experience working with these populations is needed. They will be required to have an established research agenda and a clear potential for external funding, and potential for scholarship to complement and expand existing expertise in the department. All successful candidates will have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
The Department of Psychiatry http://psych.vcu.edu/ employs over 80 fulltime faculty and has grant-funded research in genetics http://www.vipbg.vcu.edu/, addictions, child and women's mental health, and psychopharmacology.
