Description: The Virginia Institute for Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics (VIPBG), Department of Psychiatry, Virginia Commonwealth University, invites applications for tenure-eligible faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. VIPBG is a highly collaborative interdisciplinary institute that brings together faculty from a diversity of backgrounds with complementary research programs aimed at understanding how genetic and environmental risk factors contribute to psychiatric and related behavioral outcomes (see www.vipbg.vcu.edu). The successful candidate will be expected to have an established research program, and to be an engaged collaborator at the Institute. Multiple positions available.
Qualifications: The applicant should have i) an MD or PhD or equivalent with advanced training in genetics, psychology, psychiatry, biostatistics, epidemiology or a related field; ii) a successful track record of publication; and iii) an interest in areas complementary to current VIPBG expertise, e.g., psychiatric genetics, genomics, neuroscience or development. Applicants with expertise in statistical genetics, molecular genetics or bioinformatics relevant to complex human disorders are especially encouraged to apply. The applicant should have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or commit to do so as a faculty member at VCU. The successful applicant should have developed a scholarly/research portfolio that complements the existing expertise in the Institute, along with evidence of multi-disciplinary applications and external funding appropriate to rank. Joint appointments are possible with complementary departments. Start-up packages are available.
