Job Description
Interactions with Children:
  1. Treat children with dignity and respect.

  10. Help each child realize the role of being part of a group.
  11. Foster independence in children.
  12. Help children develop friendships.

  14. Communicate effectively with colleagues and families.
  15. Be willing to share ideas, talents and techniques with others.
  16. Graciously accept suggestions and ideas from others.
  17. Participate in meetings and workshops.
  18. Solve problems by discussing them with the appropriate individual.

  20. Deal with team members regarding problems in a constructive manner.

  23. Supervise and assist with toileting needs, hand washing and other self-help tasks.

  27. Complete necessary documentation for accidents, medications and concerns.
  28. Keep the classroom neat and clean at all times.
  29. Initiate and process incident reports as per center guidelines.
  30. Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures.
  31. Participate in all aspects of caring for children in the classroom.
  32. Welcome visitors to the classroom.
  33. Assume appropriate share of joint responsibilities.
  34. Facilitate smooth and orderly transitions.
  35. Develop a supportive learning environment.
  36. Use evidence-based practices that support the development of children's skills.
  37. Become familiar with and employ developmentally appropriate practices.
  38. Complete required reports and evaluations.

  3. Assist teacher as they implement curriculum.
  4. Participate in collecting assessment and archival evidence.
  5. Participate in the preparation of home visits prior to the start of the school year.
  6. Participate in the preparation two parent conferences (Jan and May).
  7. Create and distribute a weekly newsletter.
  8. Send home written reports on child's growth and development.
  9. Participate in family involvement in-classroom events.
Family Engagement:
  1. Participate in the preparation of home visits prior to the start of the school year.

Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements:
  1. Be at least 19 years of age.
  2. High school diploma or GED
  3. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  4. Has documentation of all required immunization
  5. Access to and provision of an insured and inspected automobile on an ongoing basis.
  6. Ability to complete CPR, First Aid, CPI and other required trainings as necessary.
  7. Capable of effective oral and written communication
  8. Capable of reading and comprehending policies and instruction, and use varying degrees of independent judgment and discretion.
  9. Ability to respond to appropriately to emergency situations.

Essential Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs independently. Physical demands are in excess of sedentary work as position frequently requires walking, standing, reaching, fingering, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling. Ability to carry out CPI techniques and holds.

Work Environment:

Ability to work in the class room environments as well as supervising children in the playground during all seasons.
