The Neurology Technician II is responsible for performing all neurodiagnostic tests, Electroencephalogram (EEG), Evoked Potential studies, Nerve Conduction Velocities and Long Term EEG Monitoring as ordered to provide information to interpreting MD. Establishes efficiency in scheduling and coordination of diagnostic testing. Ensures all test are performed according to established quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Obtains relevant patient medical history and documents each patient's record according to department standards. Provides patient instructions regarding procedure.
Accurately apply electrodes, non-invasive stimulation devices, and holter recorder per policy. Activates devices and record responses. Records EEG while observing, monitoring, and documenting patient responses.
Measures and calculates muscle and nerve responses and makes adjustments to minimize artifact and identify significant abnormalities. Monitors patient responses and enter data into computer.
May assist physician with needle sticks and record responses as well as measures and calculates muscle and nerve responses while entering data into computer.
Retrieves printed reports, tag, and plot patient data information and documents each patient's record according to department standards.
Removes apparatus after designated timeframe.
Provides physician with significant findings to facilitate scanning and interpretation.
Ensures patient charges and/or credits are entered into the CCS system.
Participates in orientation and training of staff and assists other staff members as needed (technical and clerical).
Transports patients to and from the department.
Provides input on development/revision of Policies and Procedures related to neurodiagnostic testing. Maintains a safe environment and report variances to management.
Opens up appointments in the electronic medical record for central scheduling to utilize for the scheduling of patient appointments.
Phones patients to remind them of their scheduled appointment and to answer any questions about the test being performed.
Participates in process improvement initiatives surrounding service delivery, and patient care.

Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or GED required. Three to five years' clinical experience in neurodiagnosis required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Registration by American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) certification is required. CPR certification is required.
