Chief Nursing Officer - Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center
Directs nursing administration and centralized staffing, including planning, budget and personnel management, policy development/implementation, and consultation with staff and senior management to ensure achievement of Ministry and System goals.Manages and oversees nursing operations within the ministry, including design and implementation of nursing roles, work processes, and work flows to improve effectiveness and efficiency and support System and ministry goals. May be assigned additional departments and/or duties as necessary to support the overall hospital operations.Provides leadership and direction on strategies to promote retention and recognition of excellence in nursing, including oversight and recommendations regarding compensation and benefit programs for nursing staff.Oversees planning and provision of continuing education, role specific competencies, and staff development to nursing staff. Implements clinical education requirements for nursing staff. Maintains professional development activities to keep registered nursing practice up to date on industry trends.Develops and implements nursing engagement and retention plan to achieve nursing retention goals.Sets strategic goals and metrics for patient care, and provide input on investments in new and existing lines of business/services.Develops plans and guidelines to promote consistency of nursing care across functional, and facility boundaries, developing sustained relationships and collaboration with other leaders to deliver results around patient satisfaction, productivity, labor costs, patient safety, and clinical outcomes.Develop an understanding of all federal, state and local regulatory requirements associated with the hospital's services, including but not limited to both the state hospital licensing and nursing practice acts.Facilitates integration of clinical and evidence-based skills and procedures and standardization of nursing policies.Administers and coordinates preparation of annual budgets for patient care services.Implements credentialing/privileging policies for nurses based on System policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with such policies for nurses who practice or seek to practice in the ministry.Promotes and fosters a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, and the coordination of care among disciplines. Provides input into the standardization of nursing procedures across the System with the System SVP, CNCSO, and other region/ministry and faculty nursing leadership.Creates and achieves a desired future state or vision for the region through influence of organizational values, individual and group goals.Maintains strong positive relationships with the hospital's medical staff, other constituency groups and referral sources (including regional Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers, Etc.).

The Chief Nursing Officer provides vision and strategic direction for nursing operations and collaborates with System and Ministry nursing leadership and other stakeholders to achieve this direction. Identifies implications of clinical decisions made at the ministry level to enhance care management, quality, and other clinical services, under the direction of the Regional Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and with guidance from System Senior Vice President (SVP) and Chief Nursing and Clinical Service Officer (CNCSO). Drives the standardization of nursing practices across the region in collaboration with the System SVP and CNCSO and ensures continuing clinical education for nursing staff.

Education and/or Experience
Master's degree in Nursing (Preferred) or Bachelor's degree in Nursing with a Master's degree in Business Administration required. Minimum ten or more years of progressive experience in nursing and patient care management, including five years of experience as a Hospital Nurse Executive (CNE) with proven ability as a competent administrator working in a large medical center with complex medical/surgical and behavioral health services.
Proficiency with Clinical Information Systems (i.e. Epic) and Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word and Excel required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Registered Nurse with current Illinois License.
Certified Nurse Executive strongly preferred.
