The Director, Environmental Services supervises and carries out the day-to-day activities of the Maintenance Department in accordance with the current Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing the facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator to assure that the facility is maintained in a safe and comfortable manner.

  • Performs routine maintenance and repair on the facility, equipment, grounds and parking areas to include plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry and mechanical. Makes regular inspections of resident rooms and all operating equipment throughout the facility and outside grounds to maintain comfort, order, safety, proper performance and appearance.

  • Coordinates daily maintenance services with the Nursing Department when performing assignments and with the Administrator on renovation projects and major facility updates.

  • Reports all unsafe conditions and major equipment malfunctions to the Administrator promptly.

  • Ensures maintenance, housekeeping and laundry supplies have been ordered and replenished in work areas. Assures that work areas, tools, supplies, and equipment are properly maintained and are properly stored during breaks and at the end of the workday.

  • Recommends and maintains budgets for maintenance, housekeeping and laundry programs within approved guidelines. Recommends yearly capital expenditure items in maintenance, housekeeping and laundry departments to the Administrator.

    Directly supervises employee(s). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Education and/or Experience

    High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience in general maintenance practices and procedures of a long term care facility. Supervisory experience required.

    Computer Skills

    Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
