Temporary Seasonal Employment

The Village of Skokie is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill three (3) temporary seasonal positions, two (2) supporting the Streets & Alleys division, and one (1) supporting the Water & Sewer division of our Public Works Department.
Â
Streets & Alleys Div.: Assists with pavement maintenance & repair; Performs various landscaping duties, including leaf collection, cutting grass using riding mower, tractor, or push mower, trimming hedges, pruning trees, tree & tree stump removal, pulling weeds, and removing garbage and debris from medians; Supports refuse collection operations, as needed.

Water & Sewer Div.: Assists with repairs to water lines, sewers tiles, inlet tiles, restrictors & regulators, manholes, and fire hydrants; Assists with stormwater maintenance operations.

Both positions perform other work-related duties, as assigned. Hours are Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Must have flexibility to work 2 – 5 days per week, not to exceed 1,000 working hours in the 12-month period immediately following date of employment. This position is not eligible for any insurance benefits or retirement pension benefits.

Hourly pay range: $22.80 - $25.14, DOQ.

Must be at least 18 years of age when employment begins; H.S. diploma or equivalent required; Valid Driver’s License required; CDL Class B License desirable, but not required; You must be in good physical condition & be able to work in all outdoor weather conditions; Must follow all safety rules of the Village. These positions require a physical examination and drug screening prior to employment. The Village of Skokie considers cannabis to be an illegal drug.
