The University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL, College of Education and Professional Studies invites applications for the full-time position of Advisor II. The College seeks a proactive individual to join the College Advising Center who will engage with students and faculty to support student success and departmental goals.
This position includes assessing College of Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) student needs, goals, interests, and academic experience in order to advise students on a successful and timely completion of their degree program. This position will provide information regarding curriculum, policies, procedures, and guidelines for their primary and secondary programs. In addition to being a department liaison, the advisor will be responsible for assisting students and faculty with course registration and scheduling, maintaining student records, and processing applications for graduation.
The successful candidate must have a Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.
Preferred Qualifications include: experience advising students in a university setting; knowledge of academic programs in areas to be served; familiarity and experience with student support system; demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access) or other equivalent software, the internet, email messaging, and web-based software applications; demonstrated experience using an online student information system; and the ability to effectively, professionally, and tactfully interact and communicate, both orally and in writing, with students, faculty, staff and visitors.
