The Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Riverside invites applications for a full-time academic coordinator, step I during the 2009-2012 academic years in the following area(s): nanofabrication and nano-characterization, semiconductor device processing, and bio-materials processing.
A minimum master's degree (Ph.D. degree preferred) and substantial teaching experience, or an equivalent combination of education and industrial experience in Materials Science and Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, etc. is preferred.
The academic coordinator provides administrative, technical and scientific oversight of the Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) Microelectronics Laboratory, a teaching clean room designed primarily for instruction and occasionally for research services. Under the supervision of a faculty director of this laboratory and with the assistance of graduate and undergraduate students, the academic coordinator will help develop, maintain and manage the daily operation of the facilities; facilitate the continued enhancement and use of the facilities; and utilize the facilities to teach nanotechnology-related training courses/workshops for the Nanotechnology Training Center at the San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD).
The academic coordinator will provide technical support to the personnel (undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty) associated with the BCOE Microelectronics Laboratory and Nanotechnology Training Center at the San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD). The individual will be responsible for maintaining high standards of technical services and developing training materials and processes for courses/workshops and hands-on laboratory experiments at UCR. In the first three years of the appointment, the required teaching hours are about 900 per year, among which, lectures are taught in the SBCCD and hands-on experiments are arranged in UCR. The training introduces participants to nano-characterization, micro and nanofabrication, materials processing and characterization, device characterization, electronic devices and optoelectronic devices, and is provided to future nanotechnology and Bio-nanotechnology technician workforce.
Salary for this position will be competitive and commensurate with appointment title and qualification. The first appointment period is for up to three years with benefits such as medical/dental/vision. The appointment may be renewed based on departmental needs.
