The United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa), located in Nairobi, Kenya, invites inquiries, applications and nominations for the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs (equivalent to a Provost or a Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs). The mission of USIU-Africa is to provide an outstanding higher education in an African context with a global outlook. It is anticipated that the Deputy Vice Chancellor will assume duties by September 1, 2020, with a preference for an earlier start.

The University is an independent, private not-for-profit institution serving almost 8,500 undergraduate and graduate students. There are 147 full-time and 188 adjunct faculty members, and 310 staff members.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor reports to the Vice Chancellor and leads the University during his scheduled absences. S/he supervises a large staff and works closely with members of the University Council. Direct reports include the Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and the Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, among others. Academic Affairs consists of the six Schools (Chandaria School of Business; School of Communication, Cinematic and Creative Arts; School of Graduate Studies, Research and Extension; School of Humanities and Social Sciences; School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences; and School of Science and Technology), the Library, Quality Assurance, E-Learning, and the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. Student Affairs consists of Admissions, Career Services, Counseling Services, the Office of the Registrar, Student Life, and the Office for Differently Abled Persons.

USIU-Africa enjoys dual accreditation in the United States (through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission) and in Kenya (from the Commission for University Education). The University is governed by a Board of Trustees; the Board appoints members of the University Council, which focuses on administration of the institution.

Required skills for the position include an earned doctorate at an accredited institution, ideally in an academic area that is offered at USIU-Africa; a rank of full Professor; a record of progressive advancement in higher education leadership; success in a complex accredited university or research organization including experience of no less than five years at the level of Dean/Director, CEO/College Principal, or Associate DVC or DVC; and eminent scholarly and research accomplishments.

Responsibilities:
The Assistant Superintendent/Vice President for Student Affairs (ASVPSA) reports directly to the Superintendent/President, and provides District-wide leadership, supervision and oversight for Student Affairs and student equity. The ASVPSA provides transformational leadership for the college's student services functions, working collaboratively with executive level leaders, administrators, faculty, and classified professionals to develop, implement and monitor innovative approaches to equitable student experiences.

Knowledge and Abilities:
The ASVPSA may serve as the Superintendent/Presidents designee of the District in the absence of the Superintendent/President; supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned staff. The ASVPSA is the student services officer for the District.

1. Provides leadership ensuring the College District offers a comprehensive array of student services including but not limited to, student development programs focused on student success, and enrollment management programs, admissions, counseling, advising, career, planning, and placement recruiting and retention, registration and records, student discipline, student activities, student advocacy, services for students with special needs, cultural activities, and other student support services and programs;
2. Leads and collaborates with college instructional/non instructional leadership to ensure Jaguar (Guided) Pathways is institutionalized into the college; as well as plays a major role in accreditation reaffirmation.
3. Provides equity-focused leadership and fosters an inclusive working environment.
4. Develop, recommend, and implement student services policies, procedures and practices which foster and promote student equity, learning, and achievement, and which support the educational programs of the College; recommends organizational structures, personnel and resources to ensure a student-centered / learner-centered environment at all levels; represents the College to various external entities and with outside agencies in matters relating to the Colleges student services;
5. Provide leadership and direction for collective bargaining and contract administration activities; may serve on the Districts negotiating team with unions; maintain confidentiality regarding issues related to negotiations and collective bargaining matters; ensure compliance with labor union contracts; and address faculty and classified confidential grievances.
6. Coordinate the student services program review activities in order to maintain continuous evaluation of the economic feasibility of student services to ensure that only those programs with appropriate priority in terms of need and demand are continued.
7. Participates in and supervises the preparation and recommendation of detailed budgets, with cost estimates, for functions supervised. Establishes and maintains budgetary control of functions supervised;
8. Lead, supervise, and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; update job descriptions to reflect student experience, interview, and select employees and recommend transfers, reassignment, termination and disciplinary actions according to established procedures.
9. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications: (Faculty and Academic Administrator Positions Only)
Masters Degree
AND
One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrators administrative assignment and one-year demonstrated leadership.

Demonstrated commitment to equity- focused leadership, responsiveness, and sensitivity, to every aspect of human diversity and actively promotes an inclusive educational and working environment.

Desirable Qualifications:
An earned doctorate from an accredited institution is desirable.

Three years progressively responsible administrative experience including leadership and senior management experience.

The successful applicant will have a demonstrated and progressive track record in the administration of administrative services in higher education. This background should be evidenced by recent and proven experience, knowledge, and abilities in:

Demonstrated understanding of, and a commitment to: the community college mission and purpose; teaching and learning; high academic standards; and, student achievement.

Knowledge and understanding of student development theory and programs; knowledge of student due process policies / procedures; knowledge and understand of the current issues and trends in student affairs and student development.

Knowledge of mediation and/or conflict resolution strategies and methods; skill in mediating disputes between students, staff and students, staff and students/ parents and community representatives;

Skill in establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with all segments of the College; ability to develop collaboration among diverse groups; ability to think outside of the box and to lead and manage change;

Demonstrated understanding of and experience with the assessment of student learning outcomes.

Experience with strategic planning and implementation, resource development and allocation, personnel and faculty development, management, and initiation of change.

Knowledge and experience with accreditation requirements and processes; knowledge of program review cycles and experience with California Community College system and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, legislation, and reporting requirements.

Demonstrated track record of meeting the needs of culturally, ethnically, and economically diverse, faculty, students and staff.

Leading through a lens of equity and race consciousness.

Collaboration with district leadership in developing and implementing effective enrollment management processes.

Working with college participatory governance groups in a collective bargaining environment.

Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.

Salary
Executive Level Educational Administrator, $164,366-$202,184 plus $2,000 annually for earned doctorate degree. A standard medical and fringe benefit package is available.

With rapidly growing populations and ageing infrastructure systems, we are at a defining moment for developing smart, sustainable, and resilient infrastructure systems and communities that can be operated and managed efficiently. Also, limited natural resources (land, energy, and water), unfavourable climate change, natural disasters, and emerging contaminants require smart management and policy solutions. We are interested in highly motivated individuals that can contribute to the solution of this overarching goal. Applicants for the position must have a demonstrated record of excellence for high-quality research in interdisciplinary areas of structural engineering, sustainability, environmental chemistry and related disciplines. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

* Resilient infrastructure for climate change hazard mitigation with a focus on multi hazards (e.g., flood, fire, earthquake), nature based infrastructure, and sensor networks

* Environmental systems engineering, with a focus on process scale-up and economics/energy/carbon trade-off analysis

* Combustion and heat transfer in high temperature and reactive systems with applications to structural and wildland/urban interface fires, including scientific support of the fire service in developing fire-fighting tactics

* Water and land resource management for climate change adaptation

* Computational and experimental environmental chemistry with a focus on the detection and treatment of recalcitrant contaminants in complex matrices

The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to work with the Institute of Environment and Sustainability (IoES) at UCLA and is expected to develop a strategic collaboration with IoES in different interdisciplinary areas such as sustainable and smart civil infrastructure systems, sustainable and energy efficient buildings, water resource management, computational environmental science and engineering, and environmental chemistry.

The successful candidate will have excellent teaching skills and record, and is expected to teach the existing undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Institute of the Environmental and Sustainability, and develop new courses related to smart and sustainable natural resource and infrastructure systems. Job Description:

Research Justice at the Intersections (RJI) is an interdisciplinary research group coordinated by the Center for Teaching and Scholarship at Mills College that fosters social justice-oriented research and groundbreaking critical analysis.

The Research Justice at the Intersections (RJI) Fellows Program offers 8-12 competitively selected scholars the opportunity to engage in a critical reading and writing group during one academic year. RJI fellows meet approximately biweekly during two academic semesters to share and comment on works in progress. Fellows also present their work during the provost's lunchtime seminar series.


Requirements:

ELIGIBILITY
The RJI Fellows Program is open to scholars who:

* Conduct research that examines the intersections of race, class, gender, sexuality, religion, and/or nation and are interested in exploring ideas related to a research justice framework in their work
* Hold a PhD or equivalent terminal degree, from any discipline
* Come from any country (though please note that Mills College is not able to provide legal advice or assistance regarding visas.)
* Are in residence in the Bay Area from September through December and January through April

The Position:
Under direction, the Program Services Coordinator plans, coordinates, and implements services, such as student recruitment, orientation, job skills assessments and job placement, special events, tours, individual and specialized programs and other support current and potential program participants. Public contact is extensive and can include students, staff, other educational institutions, community and business representatives, governmental agencies and the general public, for the purpose of exchanging program information and services. The Position:
This is complex clerical work at the action level involved in compilation of data, assessment and processing of student eligibility for financial aid awards and services. Under general supervision, the employee in this position will play an integral role in the implementation of financial stability services within the SparkPoint Center at Canada College, provides financial aid policy and procedural information; compiles data for, and assesses student eligibility for a variety of awards and related services; analyzes data, reconciles program accounts, and prepares statistical and other reports to document financial aid packages awarded. The Position:
The Financial Aid Technical Support Specialist performs complex technical work related to analyzing and resolving problems with the financial aid systems as they occur and in playing a key role in the testing documentation, and training of business processes related to financial aid. The Financial Aid Technical Support Specialist must possess a combination of functional and technical expertise and, under the supervision and direction of the Financial Aid Director, will assist ITS staff with research, analysis, and communication of policies and regulations and their impact on the District's enterprise software (Banner) and other systems configuration. Under direction, the employee compiles data for financial aid computer programs; analyzes data, reconciles computer program problems, and prepares statistical and other reports. The Position:
The Automotive Technician performs technical work involving the operation, scheduling, delivery, inventory, storage, maintenance, and repair of instructional automotive technology equipment, including organizing, coordinating, and maintaining the automotive program inventory. Under general direction, the employee performs a variety of preparatory work and planning, supervises students in the lab, tutors students, and assists students with registration, class selection, and referrals to other campus services. The position includes responsibility for constructing component demonstration models, maintaining a reference library, conducting inventories of supplies and materials, overseeing subcontractors, stocking materials, overseeing hazardous waste storage and disposal, maintaining and repairing the automobile fleet and other equipment used by students in the classrooms and laboratories, and conducting outreach activities to recruit students into the program. Public contact is extensive, primarily involving faculty and students for the purpose of providing safety and procedural information concerning automotive operations and supplies. A moderate to high degree of independent judgment and creativity are required to apply safety and other policies and procedures related to laboratory equipment and other supplies, and to resolve frequent minor and occasional major problems that arise. Consequences of errors in judgment could be costly in student and employee safety, employee time and money; however, clearly prescribed procedures and other controls limit the risk of serious errors. Duties and Responsibilities:

The Position:

The Position:
This position involves the planning, coordination and implementation of programs and activities for a Community College Child Development Center. Under general supervision, the Child Development Center Aide III (Master Teacher) assists the Coordinator in providing general programs and services, including compliance with legal policies and regulations. The Child Development Center Aide III (Master Teacher) leads the work of teachers, student assistants, clerical and other staff, volunteers and parents as assigned. A high degree of independent judgment and creativity are required to address the needs of the children, families, and students in the program. Skyline College is looking for a full-time Instructional Designer to provide pedagogical and educational technology support for face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses. Duties and Responsibilities:
