SUMMARY

The Staff Nurse I - Registered Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) who practices within the scope of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act to ensure the delivery of comprehensive, high quality, individualized nursing care, based upon knowledge and experience, the nursing process and leadership skills. The RN incorporates the Carative Factors of human care and performs established procedures in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of care of Presence health and the nursing division. The RN coordinates family involvement in the assessment, treatment and continuing care of the patient, and delegates tasks to competent and appropriate caregivers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Assesses each patient's biophysical, psychosocial, environment, spiritual, cultural, self-care, educational and discharge planning based on age and development status.
* Develops and prioritizes an outcome directed plan of care to assigned patients and changes as necessary.
* Performs clinical and technical aspects of care in accordance with established policies, procedures, standards of practice and within scope of the State Nurse Practice. Documents care per established standards.
* Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions. Modifies the plan of care focusing on age and development status and patient outcomes.
* Assess patient and family educational needs and ability to participate and learn to achieve patient plan of care through collaboration with other team members.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:



1. Minimum of 2 years Critical Care experience, (of those 2 years, at least 1 year specifically with the Cardiovascular Surgery Patient Population)

a. Coronary Artery Bypass Graft

b. Valve Surgery

c. Open Aneurysm Repair/Graft

d. Thoracic Surgery

e. Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump

f. *Impella, ECMO, and TAVR experience preferred but not required*

2. Knowledge of post-operative hemodynamic monitoring required

3. Must speak to possible post-operative complications

QUALIFICATIONS

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of California (UC), Davis, School of Medicine, is recruiting for a physician-scientist or scientist with national recognition and distinguished scholarship in experimental pathology at the

Associate/Full Professor in the Ladder Rank Tenured series to serve as the Robert Stowell Endowed Chair in Experimental Pathology. This position is critical to the growth and expansion of research programs within the department, the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the School of Medicine. The successful candidate will be expected to lead the department and the Comprehensive Cancer Center to new levels of excellence in immunopathology and immuno-oncology and make a lasting impact within the UC Davis Health and the UC Davis campus as a whole. The Stowell Endowed Chair has an initial appointment term of 8 years and upon successful review, reappointment for a final 4-year term. This endowment has a maximum term limit of twelve years for holders.

Responsibilities include intellectual leadership in building multi-disciplinary, extramurally-funded translational research programs focusing on cancer immunopathology and immuno-oncology. Creating and/or implementing laboratory- developed tests and FDA validation studies is encouraged. The successful candidate will spend a minimum of 75% of his/her time in research. Research themes may include, but are not limited to: 1) cancer-related immune pathways, reactions and checkpoints 2) biomarker identification and development; 3) advanced tissue imaging with a focus on the tumor microenvironment; 4) computational genomics/pathology. The successful candidate is expected to integrate and leverage existing research and clinical programs at UC Davis Health, including the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, the School of Veterinary Medicine, and the Center for Comparative Medicine, the California National Primate Center, and the Center for Mouse Biology.

Approximately 5-25% will be required for formal research teaching of graduate students and/or post-doctoral fellows, as well as mentorship of junior faculty participants in research training programs. Clinical service in immunopathology or immuno-oncology ranging from 5-15% is optional and based on the faculty interest, training and need. Clinical teaching of residents, fellows and possibly medical students would be expected and congruent with clinical services if the chosen candidate agrees to assigned clinical service duties.

Qualification Requirements: MD/DO, PhD, or MD/DO-PhD; Candidates must have active extramural research funding that is transferable to UC Davis, a strong record of publication and career development in biomedical animal- and/or human-based research and demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring. Summary:

* Acts as the first point of contact to ensure each resident's successful completion of the training program. Prepares, in conjunction with Chief Residents and Program Director, schedules for conferences and lectures, extracurricular activities such as outside rotations, CPR, ACLS, PALS, and in-training exams.
* Counsels residents on such issues as schedule changes, specific rotation requirements, policies and procedures, and survival skills.
* Details ongoing resident training using E*Value or other electronic residency management and institutional Medicare cost reporting system. Establishes resident portfolio and evaluation materials assuring they are complete, confidential, and accessible to faculty and residents.
* Maintains working knowledge of residency program requirements to assure ongoing ACGME compliance. Participate in semi-annual resident Milestones assessment as a member of the CCC (Clinical Competency Committee).
* Compiles data for the Annual Program Evaluation Committee, participates in Committee discussion, and prepares the annual report for presentation by the Program Director to the Graduate Medical Education Committee.
* Prepares the ACGME Self Study document for approval by the Program Director.

Qualifications:

1-3 years' experience in a position with similar responsibilities required; experience within a residency program is not required. 3-5 years' experience may be substituted in lieu of Bachelor's degree.

Proficient in Microsoft applications, and use of web based applications. Willingness to learn new software applications.
