The University of California, Santa Barbara, Department of Anthropology, Sociocultural Anthropology, Archaeology and Bioarchaeology (SAAB) Unit, invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track or tenured, Professor appointment to begin July 1, 2018. We seek an archaeologist specializing in the western, coastal United States, who has or can begin upon appointment, an active field program in the archaeology of the California central coast or Channel Islands. Research program should be theoretically and methodological rigorous and complement that of the current archaeology faculty.

The successful candidate will demonstrate ability to teach both introductory and upper-level introductory courses and supervise the UCSB Repository for Archaeological and Ethnographic Collections and Central Coast Information Center. Applicants must have completed a PhD in anthropology or archaeology by the time of appointment. The ability to direct graduate students, publish, and obtain extramural funding are critical requirements.

Paul Smith's College seeks student athletes who will represent the College and their sport well, and who are as motivated to succeed in the classroom as they are in competition.

The Position and Core Duties:
Reporting to the Athletic Director, the Head Women's Basketball Coach and Compliance Assistant provides leadership in developing an effective women's basketball program. This position will supervise the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach and will assist with the selection and evaluation of candidates for that position. In addition, the position is responsible for recruitment of student-athletes for the women's team and providing skills development opportunities for "walk-on" players. Close cooperation with the Office of Admissions is expected, as is adherence to USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) policies and procedures.

As Compliance Assistant, this position works closely with the Athletic Director, coaching staff, and the College's Registrar to complete academic eligibility documents required by the USCAA. The position will also require working with the Sports Information Director (SID) to enter rosters, schedules and game results for our athletic teams on the College's web site, informing the media of upcoming events and post-contest information, and working closely with the College's Communication and Marketing staff.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain an effective program to identify student-athlete prospects for the volleyball program.
Provide effective supervision of basketball student-athletes in the practice areas, competition and life management, including travel.
Represent the department at campus and community events, including Open House and Orientation.
Assist with the Department's strategic initiatives and special projects.
Help promote the College's athletic programs and facilities throughout the community.
Coordinate event setup and take down at home athletic contests (game day management) as needed.
Work effectively with officials, the athletic trainer, and visiting team coaches.
Train and schedule student workers.
Assure a safe and enjoyable experience for visiting teams and spectators.
Effectively manage program expenses and provide accurate and timely reports to the Director of Athletics.
Coordinate purchasing of supplies and equipment with the Director of Athletics.
Serve as a positive role model for student athletes.

Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree preferred) in Sports Management or related field preferred.
Experience as a high school or college basketball coach.
Proven ability to recruit women to athletic programs.
Experience in the field of media relations or public information using traditional as well as digital media.
Knowledgeable in compiling statistics and statistical reports; professional experience specific to sports information preferred.
Strong communication, interpersonal and technology skills.
Effective both as a leader and as a collaborator.
Record of teaching and modeling positive character, values, and responsibility,
Ability to work flexibly and accommodate a schedule that will include evenings, weekends and travel as required.
Possess or be willing to complete CPR and First Aid certification.
Driver's license and driving record that meets the standard of "acceptable" to the College's insurance carrier.

The Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a full-time Lecturer with Potential Security of Employment (tenure-track Lecturer) position, with an anticipated start date of Jan 1, 2018, or later. The Department is looking for exceptional individuals with enthusiasm for pedagogy, interaction with students in a laboratory setting, technical communication, and core undergraduate coursework.

A successful applicant should be committed to teaching and mentoring undergraduates, to improving the undergraduate Chemical Engineering program, and taking the lead role in management and teaching of the Chemical Engineering Undergraduate (Unit Operations) Laboratory. The ideal candidate will engage, excite, and challenge students in a laboratory setting; innovate, manage, and co-teach the Chemical Engineering Unit Operations Laboratory; and assist in core undergraduate teaching, curriculum development, and assessment.

Teaching assignments will include co-teaching the Chemical Engineering Jr/Sr Unit Operations Laboratory, encompassing laboratory experiments in separations, thermodynamics, transport phenomena, kinetics, and process control; technical writing; and may include individually and/or co-teaching core undergraduate classes. The teaching load will nominally be 3 courses per term, with the Winter/Spring Unit Operations Laboratories representing 2 courses each term. The salary will be commensurate with experience.

A PhD degree in Chemical Engineering is required, with a demonstrated record of teaching excellence.

Department of Curriculum & Instruction

The Department of Curriculum & Instruction in the School of Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a faculty member with expertise in Mathematics Education at the ECE/elementary level for a full-time, 9-month, tenure track position.

Position Requirements

The successful candidate will provide evidence of:

* A Doctorate in Mathematics education or ECE/elementary education with an emphasis in mathematics or related field

* A publication record in mathematics field commensurate with a research intensive university

* Three or more years of successful public school teaching experience at the ECE/elementary level in the mathematics field

* Successful teaching experience at the college level

* Successful teaching experience with diverse populations

* Strong collaboration skills with university colleagues and public school districts

* Experience with on-line and other technology-assisted instruction

The duties and responsibilities of this position include:

* Teaching undergraduate and graduate Mathematics education related courses

* Participating in accreditation efforts

* Serving as a faculty mentor and/or advisor to students in undergraduate and graduate programs

* Engaging in appropriate scholarly activities, including research and publication in refereed journals

* Providing service at the department, school, university, local, state, and national levels

* Supervising field interns
