ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise activates engaged in prepping and repairing of products as well as recycling or waste from products

Works in the system

Works on improving prepping and repairing processes for quality and productivity

Comply and enforce day-to-day standards

Assist in improving processes and standard operational procedures (SOP's)

Implement prepping and repairing safety and security programs and activities



*
Evaluate housekeeping, security, and sanitation levels on a daily basis

Review 6S evaluation scores and review in operational meetings

*
Ensure safety in all areas of warehouse by ensuring their areas are neat and secure, and that damage to product, equipment, and the facility is prevented

Ensure dress code and professionalism is maintained at its highest levels at all times

Interview, select and train prepping personnel

Coach, mentor and motivate staff on a daily basis

Conduct employee performance evaluations on a quarterly basis.

In support of the Society's goals, the Merchandise Warehouse Stockperson provides warehouse/inventory support for zoo revenue-generating locations through-out the park-like setting. In doing so, you will make use of your prior warehouse experience as you collate merchandise orders, pull and deliver requested stock as requested by merchandise locations, gift shops, and/or other departments, and prepare all other merchandise for storing and shipping to other merchandise locations (including pricing, tagging, and folding apparel). While demonstrating your "can-do" attitude and focus on results, you will load orders onto appropriate vehicles and deliver to correct park locations, assist in unloading incoming shipments from outside, and assist in checking incoming and outgoing shipments for proper quantities and documentation from vendors. You will also maintain and clean all warehouse stock areas, including sweeping and/or cleaning of floors, shelves, and equipment for safe, organized, and reliable work areas and equipment. Safety is your focus as you drive and operate various warehouse vehicles and equipment in a safe and efficient manner including, but not limited to carts, forklifts, pickup trucks, stake-body trucks, and tailgate trucks.

Since Brookfield Zoo is open 365 days a year, the Merchandise Warehouse Stockperson position requires the ability to work non-standard hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends. Work schedules are based on the needs of the operation; the Stockperson must be available for work on an on-call basis as product arrives. This is a temporary (seasonal) position. The starting wage: $8.90/hr.

The requirements for this position include:

* High School graduate or (GED) equivalent preferred. .
* Accurate basic math, reading and writing skills required.
* Must have good communications and interpersonal skills.
* Minimum 6 months previous warehouse experience preferred.
* Previous experience operating a forklift preferred.
* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* Must be reliable and neat.
* Must be flexible and organized.
* Experience and/or ability to work and interact effectively with a diverse, multicultural audience. Multi-lingual ability and Spanish fluency a plus.
