Classified ARCHAEOLOGIST OPEN-RANK PROFESSOR SPECIALIZING IN THE WESTERN COASTAL UNITED STATES

The University of California, Santa Barbara, Department of Anthropology, Sociocultural Anthropology, Archaeology and Bioarchaeology (SAAB) Unit, invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track or tenured, Professor appointment to begin July 1, 2018. We seek an archaeologist specializing in the western, coastal United States, who has or can begin upon appointment, an active field program in the archaeology of the California central coast or Channel Islands. Research program should be theoretically and methodological rigorous and complement that of the current archaeology faculty.

The successful candidate will demonstrate ability to teach both introductory and upper-level introductory courses and supervise the UCSB Repository for Archaeological and Ethnographic Collections and Central Coast Information Center. Applicants must have completed a PhD in anthropology or archaeology by the time of appointment. The ability to direct graduate students, publish, and obtain extramural funding are critical requirements.

The Position and Core Duties:
Reporting to the Athletic Director, the Head Women's Volleyball Coach and Aquatics Coordinator provides leadership in developing an effective women's volleyball program. This position will supervise the Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach, and will assist with the selection and evaluation of candidates for that position. In addition, the position is responsible for recruitment of student-athletes for the women's team and providing skills development opportunities for "walk-on" players. Close cooperation with the Office of Admissions is expected, as is adherence to USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) policies and procedures.

As Aquatics Coordinator, this position has direct oversight of the management and daily operation of the swimming facility and aquatics programming. Responsibilities include training lifeguards, setting the pool schedule, coordinating and overseeing swim lessons and other aquatic programs conducted by the Athletics and Recreation Department.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain an effective program to identify student-athlete prospects for the volleyball program.
Provide effective supervision of volleyball student-athletes in the practice areas, competition and life management, including travel.
Represent the department at campus and community events, including Open House and Orientation.
Assist with the Department's strategic initiatives and special projects.
Help promote the College's athletic programs and facilities throughout the community.
Coordinate event setup and take down at home athletic contests (game day management) as needed.
Work effectively with officials, the athletic trainer, and visiting team coaches.
Train and schedule student workers.
Assure a safe and enjoyable experience for visiting teams and spectators.
Effectively communicate volleyball schedules and accurate results and statistics to local media, conference offices and the college community using standard and approved formatting and means of submission.
Effectively manage program expenses and provide accurate and timely reports to the Director of Athletics.
Coordinate purchasing of supplies and equipment with the Director of Athletics.
Serve as a positive role model for student athletes.
Maintain Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification for supervising the operations of a publicly-used aquatic facility, and other pertinent certifications (e.g., CPR, First Aid, American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard instructor).
Supervise assistant coaches and other part-time employees as necessary.

Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree preferred) in Sports Management or related field preferred.
Experience as a high school or college volleyball coach.
Working knowledge of rules and strategies related to intercollegiate volleyball.
Proven ability to recruit women to athletic programs.
Ability to provide leadership to student athletes to encourage both successful academic development and competitive performance.
Strong communication, interpersonal, technology, organization and planning skills.
Record of teaching and modeling positive character, values, and responsibility,
Ability to work flexibly and accommodate a schedule that will include evenings, weekends and travel as required.

Position:
Under the general supervision of the division dean, and the umbrella of Computer Studies, the CNET faculty member will teach in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) area. Full-time faculty members should be able to teach in several ICT programs. Full-time faculty would and also be required to take active lead on portions of Ohlone's ICT Pathway career program. Participation as a full-time faculty member in department, division and campus-wide activities is required. The instructor may be required to have part of his/her teaching assignment in the evening and/or weekends and teach courses at the Fremont and/or Newark campuses, online via the eCampus and/or an off-campus location.


Desirable Qualifications:
1. Bachelors degree and 2 years of professional experience.
2. Working knowledge of basic client/server technology, Cloud Computing, Windows Server & Linux.
3. Working knowledge in technology areas of LAN, WAN, and Campus Networks, Ethernet, 10bT, 100bT, ATM, Switched Networks, FDDI, Token Ring, Routing Protocols, IPX/SPX, Network Management tools and processes.
4. Working knowledge of Network management applications, client server applications, networking technologies and troubleshooting techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Benefits Statement:

Despite tens of millions of dollars spent annually on autism research in the US, "precision" medicine does not exist in any meaningful way for ASD infants and toddlers. The Center's new NIH fMRI grant will address this serious gap in knowledge and identify functional biomarkers that are much more proximal and relevant to the early-age clinical problem and possible solutions. The successful Postdoctoral Autism fMRI Researcher applicant will be expected to take a leading role in state-of-the-art functional imaging, powerful analytic techniques, and ASD-relevant language and social emotion activation paradigms and resting state to discover in n=175 ASD and typical 1-2 year olds neural biomarkers of variation in early social and language clinical presentation, trajectories, and outcome at age 3-4 years. The Postdoctoral Resercher also be in a key position to also analyze results of these new experiments in combination with existent Center neuroimaging dataset of >400 ASD and typical 1 to 4 year olds, and thereby reveal meaningful, clinically-relevant prognostic biomarkers and biotargets for future experimental therapeutic paradigms.

In addition to spearheading the specific new studies, the chosen Postdoctoral applicant will also have the exciting and career enhancing opportunity to learn about and engage in other aspects of the Center's research on the developmental neurobiology of autism, including studies of molecular, cellular, anatomical and functional abnormalities associated with autism. Center studies currently involve fMRI, MRI, DTI, functional genomics, molecular and cellular neurodevelopmental biology, cortical laminar development and organization, and postmortem research. Center research has been nationally and internationally recognized for its excellence, and funded studies integrate behavioral, developmental, genomic, neuroanatomical and neurofunctional findings to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the developmental neurobiology of this disorder. The Center has ten Ph.D. faculty and staff and numerous outstanding collaborators locally, nationally and internationally. In the past ten years, the Center has been awarded more than $40,000,000 in grants and currently has more than $10,000,000 in NIH grants. The Center's sleep fMRI in ASD and typical infants and toddlers constitute an important percentage of all published infant ASD fMRI studies.

We seek Postdoctoral applicants with a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent and proven expertise in state-of-the-field fMRI and MRI analyses, advanced biostatistical skills, and interest in taking a leading role in conducting innovative multimodality neuroimaging and functional genomic studies of neurodevelopmental trajectories and clinical correlates in ASD. Neuroimaging skills should include experience with SPM, AFNI, and/or FSL; and FreeSurfer, BrainVisa, Human Connectome and/or similar analysis pipelines. Thus, applicants should have experience in fMRI mapping and time-series analyses, automated cortical- and subcortical segmentation and advanced diffusion tractography. Preferred computational skills include coding experience with MATLAB, Python, and/or R. Competitive applicants are expected to have skill with longitudinal data analysis, machine learning, network neuroscience, and/or other advanced neuroimaging or other multivariate biostatistical techniques (ICA, DCM, PLS, etc). Experience performing and collecting auditory or visual neuroimaging paradigms and analyses is preferred. Experience with collecting neuroimaging data from infants and/or children is preferred, although strong experience collecting such data from adults may be acceptable. Candidates must have a track record of productivity, leadership and success in working in a team environment. Position Description:

Under the leadership of James T. Minor, Assistant Vice Chancellor and Senior Strategist for Academic Success and Inclusive Excellence, the Assistant Director of Research and Programs will provide systemwide oversight and leadership for advancing research, policy development and programs related to Graduation Initiative 2025. This is a new position that will provide leadership to a number of inaugural programs and interventions that will encourage innovation and remove barriers that impede student success.

To achieve the ambitious goals of Graduation Initiative 2025, the CSU is restructuring its approach to developmental education, addressing the well-being of students, reexamining existing financial need practices, and improving enrollment management and planning. Supporting these efforts, the Assistant Director of Research and Programs is responsible for gathering research and data, and providing systemwide project management and coordination to assist with policy implementation and the adoption of best practices.

The incumbent will manage, coordinate and report on programs and practices supported by external funding, and will research and assess existing and emerging programs and policies at the federal, state and university level. Responsibilities also include making connections and working across the CSU to utilize resources such as campus student success plans, systemwide analytics, and the CSU Student Success Data Dashboard to evaluate the merits and efficacy of innovative approaches intended to improve student success.

This position will work in conjunction with campus student success committees, provosts/vice presidents of Academic Affairs, vice presidents of Student Affairs and campus leaders to support Graduation Initiative 2025. The Assistant Director of Research and Programs will work closely with the Public Affairs, Communications, and Advocacy and State Relations departments in preparation to testify at legislative hearings or present at systemwide conferences and advisory committee meetings. Qualifications:

Successful candidates will have - at minimum - a Master's Degree in social science (Education, Psychology, Psychometrics, Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, Higher Education, Public Health, Public Policy, Economics, etc.); at least one year of coursework in research design or research methods using statistical software; and three to five years of experience with higher education programs intended to support student access, success, retention and completion. Students take courses in the Computer Studies Department that meet days, evenings, weekends, and online. All courses are designed to meet business and professional level certification computer competency standards and are taught using the latest industry standard software. Roughly half of the Department's students transfer to a four-year university, while the rest pursue local General Education Requirements or a CSIT Department Degree, Certificate of Achievement, Certificate of Proficiency, or Professional Certification. The Department currently consists of two full-time faculty and many associate faculty members committed to providing students with a learning experience that is diverse, rich, and academically balanced. Our teaching facilities are well-equipped with recently remodeled rooms, excellent equipment, large student open labs, and strong technology support resources. Lab computers are upgraded based on an automatic replacement cycle.The Computer Studies Department is seeking a faculty member who will provide instruction on ground and online across a wide range of current CSIT classes. The person selected will not be a specialist with a single area of focus, but rather one who demonstrates the ability to teach and lead across multiple areas of the Department, including sub areas such as: foundation level computer skills, computer and management and business information systems, computer applications, data analytics, e-commerce, social media, technology as it relates to society, and network and security administration. 1. A Master's Degree in a computer or information technology related field with related professional certifications.

2. Significant industry experience in a computer or information technology related field.

3. Experience with engaging and innovative teaching practices in both on ground and online classes to encourage student success.

4. Demonstrated ability to think with agility both creatively and critically, and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written forms.

5. Demonstrated ability to work closely and collaboratively with students and colleagues in support of a positive, productive, and professional academic environment.

6. Demonstrated success teaching across a wide variety of computer technology and information systems classes.

7. Experience building links with local employers, including facilitating internships and job placement.

8. Experience engaging in digital and in-person student marketing and outreach to sustain and build enrollment. Strong interest in developing student engagement through participation in the Department's club, ClubIT, and other student-focused success and community building initiatives.

9. Experience developing new and cutting edge community college courses and certificates in areas such as but not limited to: cyber security, device intelligence, computer forensics, interconnection of embedded Internet devices and corresponding dynamic systems (Internet of Things (IoT)), cloud technologies, social media and web 3.0, data analytics, etc. Interest in leading and teaching in these areas.

10. Commitment to the community college mission of providing lower division instruction for students of diverse abilities, interests, and cultural backgrounds.

11. Commitment to examine, reflect, and modify instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support disproportionately impacted student populations with a goal of closing equity gaps (see Student Equity website at http://www.miracosta.edu/studentservices/studentequity/index.html).

Licenses and Other Requirements:

Working Hours: WORKLOAD AND OTHER EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION: This position is a 10-month, 176 day contract. The standard contractual work week for this position is forty (40) hours consisting of thirty (30) hours of instructional time, curriculum development, preparation and student evaluation (contact hours and preparation hours). The remaining time will consist of five (5) student hours (of which at least two (2) hours must be designated office hours), and five (5) institutional service hours. The person selected for this position will be assigned a Faculty Service Area (FSA) in Computer Studies & Information Technology and will be subject to assignment to any district facility during any hours of operation. Adherence to all District policies and procedures is expected.
