Supports the effective prevention and management of denials, including drafting appeal letters and/or providing information as part of the appeal process.


* Assesses the patient and family for continuing care needs to develop, implement and evaluate an effective discharge plan in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Uses knowledge of usual length of stay to initiate a plan for discharge. Addresses actual and potential barriers to discharge.

SUMMARY

The Echo Vascular Technologist II is a member of the Cardiopulmonary team who is specifically trained in performing and assisting with noninvasive cardiac testing, such as EKGs, Holter Monitoring, and Stress Testing. The Cardiovascular Technologist performs M-mode, 2-D, Doppler, and Color Flow echocardiograms as well as Transesophageal echocardiograms. He/she is involved in the processing of paperwork for these tests, and promotes the Touch of Mercy in all duties performed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Responsible for proficiently performing EKGs and all M-Mode, 2-D, Doppler, Color Flow, Transesophageal studies and Stress echocardiography on both inpatients and outpatients. Hooks up and discontinues Holter Monitors; assists with Stress Testing; and performs other Department functions as required. Performs clerical responsibilities related to processing and filing.
* Performs all EKGs, Holters in a timely fashion with best possible quality tracing for inpatients and outpatients.
* Performs all M-Mode, 2-D, Doppler, Color Flow, Transesophageal studies, and Stress Echo studies with associated measurement and analysis studies on inpatients and outpatients.
* Will provide diagnostic testing to pediatric patients, infants, and neonates in accordance with training.
* Explains to patient and/or significant other the procedure, purpose, and the patients role in obtaining reliable results.
* Communicates with Cardiologist regarding findings of studies and notifies them of significant findings as needed.
* Preps patient for Stress Tests when needed.
* Assists M.D. with performing Stress Tests when needed.
* Orients new personnel as needed.
* Reviews and performs monthly Quality Assurance studies. Identifies opportunities for improvement and takes action accordingly.
* He/she will serve as a resource for staff in the cardiopulmonary department as well as the nursing units.

* Seeks assistance from Financial Counselors when needed to maintain patient flow while resolving financial issues and ensuring financial clearance of account. Provides information and assistance to patients to ensure they understand the Financial Assistance policy and application process. Provides Financial Assistance applications to all uninsured patients.


* Communicates with service delivery and other departments to resolve issues that impact patient services and schedules and escalates patient service issues that cannot be resolved in accordance with departmental guidelines.
